Since I wrote this post we did actually return to Maui. We had another child, a son, and we wanted to do a repeat trip near his first birthday just like we did for our daughter.

Since our daughter was older this time, she enjoyed it much more and constantly asks to return. I think that part of my post was wrong — we will likely be frequent visitors to the island for years to come.
